Eten Glofiish X800 Reviews in the net

As people are getting ready for the X800 I made a search to see who has already reviewed this device in the net. Here is what I got:

John Chan from Cnet Asia has reviewed the device and shared some info on release time: "Though it was originally slated for a September release, we have now been informed that the X800 will be available only in October."

Here is another "don't say to much" review on smape.com.

Could not find any more reviews, if you know about any, please send a comment now!

How to bring your Glofiish X500 and M700 back to life after unsuccessful ROM update

ROM updates can be tricky and sometimes they fail. This instruction will help you to come back after disaster happens:

1) Find your 'TEMP' directory on your PC (should be C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR NAME\Local Settings\Temp)
2) Delete all the files in this directory
3) Start the update program on your PC
4) Run it until you get the "END USER UPDATE" screen
5) Go to your 'TEMP' directory, you need 2 files from there: USBDLUpdate_Console.exe and temp.dat.
6) Format a microSD card in "FAT" file system
7) Copy USBDLUpdate_Console.exe and temp.dat to the microSD card
8) rename temp.dat to temp.bin on microSD
9) put microSD card into your M700
10) press 'record', 'reset' and 'power' buttons; release reset' and 'power', you will eneter 'DOWNLOAD' mode
11) Update will run now from microSD card, wait until it stops with "usb host is not connected yet"
12) Remove your battery for 2 minutes.
13) Put your battery back.
14) You are done.

How To enable built-in VoIP functionality in X500 and M700

Until recent time I did not know that WM6 has built-in VoIP functionality and it can be enabled on my Glofiish X500. I am using it now for a couple of days and it's great, I can use it over WiFi network and can call lots of countries for free with quality better than SkypeOut can do on this device.

What will you need:

  1. X500 with WM6 installed
  2. VoIP patch (Thank you xda-developers!)
  3. SIP config Tool
  4. Switch (to make your VoIP voice come out on the front speaker and not loud on the back one)
Install all above programs, launch SIP Config Tool and enter your VoIP account info (if you do not have a VoIP account, get one here: internetcalls.com )

Once this is configured you will see a new icon on your home screen with blue phone and green antenna and the name of your VoiP account. It can read 'No Service', 'Available' or 'Connected'. When it is in connected state all your outgoing phone calls will go through VoIP! I saved huge amount already calling to all the differnet countries, and internetcalls even offers calls to a list of countries for free. Bye-bye Skype!
